I just scanned my computer with Bitdefender virus scanner. It deleted tons of TMP files and stuff it said was infected with trojans. When I rebooted my PC, the Microsoft Networking Password keeps saying NOT VALID. I can hit cancel and the internet works, but how do I get my network password to work again.......or would it be easier just to remove it from network and not have a password prompt somehow? THANK YOU!
Microsoft Networking password NOT working HELP?
What OS are you using?
Reply:An easy way to get rid of the Network login window is to go to Start, Settings, Control Panel.
Double click on Network.
Change the Primary Network Logon Microsoft Family Logon if it is in the Drop Down window. Click OK and reboot. Family Logon does have a Login Screen.
If not available and you are using Win 98 or ME, hit Add button and select Client and click add to the right, then Microsoft in the new window that pops up. On the right you will see Microsoft Family Loginn. Click it and then click ok. Then click on the Drop down arror to the right of Primary Network Logon and select Family Logon, then ok and reboot.
If Family Logon is not available, select Windows Logon then reboot. When you reboot and it wants you to login to Windows, Put in a username but no password, if will not ask again.
Reply:If you're the admin of the network, just reset you master password, then log in under a user account. Should fix itself.
If not, have the admin do it for you.
You can also check to see if Bitdefender has an undo option. If it doesn't, check to see if created a System Restore point you can revert back to. Chances are it erroneously deleted the file your password key was stored in. This does not nescessarily mean its Bitdefender's fault. I have seen Windows installs where password storage never made it past a temp file. Not suppose to happen that way.
Reply:I assume this is 98 or ME as no other system has a way to cancel. Once you are in the system do a file search for any file called *.pwl. Delete all these. You can then log in normally and set up a new password.
