Networking connection............?
hi mohit jain,

First you must buy a LAN 5e cable along with it's RJ-45 jack, just ask of these from a local computer store near you; there are many lying around the store's shelves waiting for you to grab... errr, buy I meant.

Then your computers (A %26amp; B) must've LAN network adapters installed in them, plug-in that RJ-45 jack. This will connect the computers together.

What OS do you use currently? If Windows XP Pro is your OS, then do these:

- Open 'Network Connections', access this menu from the 'Control Panel' of WinXP Pro.

- There will be an icon showing your LAN adapter installed, right click it and choose 'Properties'.

- The LAN adapter Properties window will appear, scroll down the 'This connection uses the following items:' and click on 'Internet Protocl (TCP/IP)'; after that click the 'Properties' button.

- The 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties' will appear, click the radio button of 'Use the following IP address' and then you enter the value of 'IP address:' with these numbers: 192.168.1.1 (you don't have to use the dot anymore, it's already have been represented in the field).

- After you've typed those numbers, click on the field 'Subnet mask' which WinXP Pro will fill in the field automatically. Leave it be.

- Click the 'Ok' button to close and save, keep clicking the 'Ok' button for every 'Properties' windows.

Do these steps on each computers (A %26amp; B), but at the computer B you must use another IP address: 192.168.1.2 for instance.

If you've successfully do the steps, the LAN mini icon (on the right side of task bar) will appear and show some animation.

At the 'Network Connections' window, click 'My Network' to find your other computers.

Go to 'My Computer' and right click the disk drive you wish to share, choose the 'Sharing and Security...' option. The drive Properties window will appear, click the 'Share this folder' and fill in the needed informations there.

There you have it, I hope I've guided you thoroughly and as simple as I can.

Good luck!
Reply:Networking connect the two or more than computer through the Internet. You can use Intetnet Hub or router for the networking.
Reply:What OS and versions on the two PCs?

You only need a 'cross-wired' LAN UTP cable - they are readily available marked as 'suitable for networking 2 PCs' or similar.

You can connect a printer to one or both of the PCs.

Recent laptops mostly have a UTP connection, as should most newer desktops - if not you will need interface cards as appropriate.

Once you have the physical connections, you need to set up the network. Since you don't say what OS or version you have, I'll not spend any more time to say more on that. Then you will be able to see the disks and/or printer on the other PC.

If you do have a Windows OS on both - other answers may help you with that.

Reply:Do you already have a wireless or wired connection?

Its quite hard you need to check that networking files are installed under Add/remove windows components.

Then you have to set a workgroup name to the computers on your network. you can do this through the wizards that appear on network connection if your running xp its called 'setup small office or home network'

Then you should just be able to right click the file you want to share and press sharing and set it up through that.

When I first did it there was alot of problems. It could take along time.

Good luck
