Networking problems?

I can't get my 2 computers to see one another in the network. I have a laptop and a desktop both running winxp. Can someone tell me what to do to get them to see one another on the network? Thanks

go to run command window and type \\machine name (or) \\IP Address .





it will open the other computer on the network.

Reply:which one router is yours and power off the router and the pc and then power back on then you will be ok and get the latest upadest on the router
Reply:There are so many reasons or so many possibilities. Lot you didnt say. Do you have a wireless router or a wired router?


Did you install the router per the installation CD?


Try this. Turn off everything.





Turn on DSL or cable modem


Turn on wireless router


Turn on each computer.

Reply:Go to my network places and run the setup a small buisness or home network wizard. Follow the prompts.





Here is instructions for windows xp (the first two)


If you do this, and want to transfer files, just right click your c drive temprarily / sharing, and share the drive (or folder)


Go to my network places and you will have access from the other computer.
