Vista Networking Can Anyone HELP? :) Thanks?

Hello there!I have been working with this networking issue for a month now. I am in an office and we have 4 computers all running on Windows Vista. We just recently added a computer to the network. This new computer can access the network and see other computers, browse with the internet connection.BUT! none of the other computers can see this new computer on the network. EVERYTHING that is suppose to be shared is shared, all the firewalls are off, there should be no reason as to why the other computers cannot see this computer. We are using Linksy's for networking NetGear for wireless connection.I have ran a test through Vista testing the Network connection. It is saying that the Network is marked as hidded.Network not in range of this computeror Wirless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network. I do not know how to check the settings of the network on this computer, and I do not know what to compare them to.Can any1 help?I welcome any other suggestions

Vista Networking Can Anyone HELP? :) Thanks?
If this is a company that is networking then they have a security code in place. Most companys that use computers in their office block certain sites. If the network connection says that it is mark as a hidden network (it is because of the codes that is in place) I have a friend who work at a bank and along with other computers in different offices , they are not able to receive mail from certain sites (example) Yahoo. and are not able to reach other sites either. If is for the company protection and security.
Reply:The network is not hidden, because the new computer found it, and uses it to access the Internet.

Control Panel%26gt;Networking and Sharing center

On the left hand panel select Manage Network Connections

Right click the wireless connection

Select Status

Details

Compare to the other computers on the Network.

While in the Network and Sharing center, check to make sure that network discovery is on and all that. Make sure the settings match those of the other computers.
Reply:You may use a tool called NetworkStumbler to detect the hidden computer. I found some useful info at http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2007...
Reply:I would either suggest one of the two...make sure that all the connections on shared and the main computer are all online to each other. Sometimes you may have to actualy add a shared file manually...And the second suggestion i would also point out is that definetly make sure that the firewalls are off even though you said it but it may also be controled in whatever antivirus program like for instance on Norton, or any other program it can set up a firewall on its own and will substitute the Windows Firewall. I hope that helped bye
Reply:A little more info will help . . . are all the computers connected wirelessly? I'm assuming you're not using a domain (if you were you'd probably know). Are all the computers up-to-date on Windows Update patches? (Click Start--%26gt;Programs--%26gt;Windows Updates to find out.)

When you say you can't "see" the new computer, what exactly are you looking at? For example, are you using Start--%26gt;Network to see if the new computer appears in the listing of network computers?

A couple of suggestions:

1) You state that everything that should be shared is shared but I'm not clear on whether that's files/folders/printers or the Sharing and Discovery Options in the Network and Sharing Center. So be sure Sharing and Discovery options are set appropriately. (Click Start--%26gt;Control Panel--%26gt;Network and Sharing Center, then, under Sharing and Discovery Options click to turn on Network Discovery, File Sharing and Public Folder Sharing to ensure files on the new PC are visible to the network.)

2) Be sure the new computer is named. Click Start--%26gt;Control Panel--%26gt;System. On the right side of the window, look under the paragraph Computer Name and Workgroup Settings. If you don't see a computer name and a workgroup name, click Change Settings. Then click the Network ID button and follow the wizard to name the computer and make it part fo the same workgroup that all of your other computers belong to.

Hope this helps--post again with more info as noted above if it doesn't.
