Networking?

I have 2 locations and would like to network them together as one. I am running Xp Pro w/o using a server. what is the best way to do this?

Networking?
For this one it depends with the distance between the sites and Electromagnetic Interference on site. It also depends on what you have and what will be the use of the network however, if your machines already have Wi-fi, bluetooth or infrared then you may use any of the three but their distance and speed are limited. Since you are running Windows XP I will assume that both your PCs are equipped with Network interface cards and if not you can purchase them cheaply. Preferably buy Gigabit NICs and then use a Cat6 crossover cable to join the two and make sure that the cable does not exceed 100m. on how to make a crossover cable visit: http://www.makeitsimple.com/how-to/dyi_c... and follow.

In the case that there is excessive Electromagnetic Interference or that the distance is bigger than 100m you may consider using optical fiber and in this case you have to employ optical fiber Network Interface Cards and for this solution you may need at least a CCNA or equivalent personnel as optical fiber can be very dangerous when handled by unqualified personnel.
