purchased a router to hook up a second computer, it works for a while then i lose my internet connection on my modem. i think it is the cable modem any ideas?

Make sure that the coaxial connection going to the modem is nice and tight. It is possible that you accidentally loosened it while installing the router.
Did you have this problem before? If you take the router out of the equation...I mean just hook one computer up to the modem and let it run for a while....Do you lose internet? If so then it is either your modem or your cable infrastructure.
Reply:i doubt it would be the cable modem if all works fine without the router, sounds more like an incorrect cable to connect the router to the modem.
for connection of router %26gt; modem - use a crossover cable and see if this works.
