What is the difference between a person who gets a degree in Network Administration, and a person who gets their Network+ certification? How does this differ in the workinf field? I have my A+ and I am thinking of getting my Network+, but I wonder if it is worth the effort. I am also studying electronics.
Networking?
N+ is generic, general and basic, and does not focus on a particular operating system or family of hardware.
With Network Administration, you get to the nitty-gritty, and in studying Network Administration, the person generally specialises in a particular operating system, or shoots for a particular certification.
N+ is well worth the effort, but it's just the start and the springboard to bigger and better things.
Reply:As quickly as you can, get a degree.
I have over 20 years, A+ and Net+ but no degree. It has hindered my advancement into upper management positions for reasons that are not explainable.
