Networking...?

I am trying to remove our home network but if I disable it then my computer can't connect to the internet. Is there a way to do this without just starting from scratch?

I'm hoping that once I get rid of the network I will be able to download without it slowing down what's going on on our other computer...any help is appreciated.

Networking...?
The problem is not the network but the bandwidth. You only have a certain amount of bandwidth that the ISP gives you. When you hook up this connection to a home network, the bandwidth is shared between the two computers. This does make the computer download a little slower.

In my personal experience I have had four computers hooked up to a router and have seen no ill effects with surfing the Net. This was with Verizon's DSL service from back in 2001.

The only solution is to block port 80 on the computer you do not want using the Internet. This may be done by using the built in firewall that is on the router or with Windows firewall. There should be somewhere on the settings to block traffic from reaching certain ports. Port 80 is for HTTP traffic. Just be sure to block it going to and from the computer that you do not want to access the Internet. This way you still have a home network, just one computer can't surf on line.
Reply:If you remove your home network, that means that only one computer can be connected to the internet at a time.
Reply:If it's on a wireless network create a separate profile to connect with. Then rebuild one system at a time.
